I Never Thought I Would Win BET Awards – Davido
OBO and HKN group head, superstar David ‘Davido’ Adeleke, has said that he was surprised when his name was called as the winner of the Best International Act award at the BET awards.
He described the African category of the Best International Act as one of the toughest category in the awards show as it encompasses a continent.
“When I was hanging out with the other nominees before the awards in (Los Angeles), I never thought I would win because I have worked with almost everyone on that nomination list, and they are amazing artists,” Davido revealed to reporters.
Ice Prince had won the award one year earlier and praised Davido for putting in work this year and taking the award back to Nigeria.
Ice Prince said: “I was really excited when I heard them call Davido’s name. He is a really talented artist and it’s encouraging to see African artists being recognised for their hard work".
Davido had faced fierce competition from Diamond Platnumz from Tanzania, Mafikizolo from South Africa, Sarkodie from Ghana, Toofan from Togo and our (Nigeria's) own Tiwa Savage to come out victorious.
The presentation was held at the Nokia Theatre L.A. in Los Angeles, the U.S.A.
Davido (David Adeleke) was born in November 1992. He is a young singer / entertainer and producer. The star artist has worked with numerous celebrities from all over Africa and worldwide and already has to his name multiple Africa number one hits, despite his young age.
