Abuja Explosion: Woman Still Can't Find Husband

Mother of Abuja explosion victim, which rocked the busy Emab Plaza shopping mall last month, Uche Ojeh, still has no information about her husband, present at the scene of the blast.

While the woman's son survived the attack having been badly injured, her husband, a taxi driver, has been missing for 3 weeks, The Cable reports. He is neither among the deceased, nor among the hospitalized.

She narrated that a day after the blast she was informed that her son was at Maitama District Hospital, where she immediately headed. The woman continued, sobbing:

"And truly, I saw my son with a deep cut in his head and leg. I tried calling his father, but his phone was switched off. We later went to the mortuary to check if his body was there, but we did not find him. We suspect he was caught up in the unfortunate incident because his taxi was badly burnt."

According to the aggrieved woman, the family continues their search, but in no avail.

"I don’t know what to do. What will I do now? Where do I go to?"

The woman's elder son Chukwudi Ojeh has reportedly visited  the ministry of health many times to find out whether his father is among the deceased, but the ministry was unable to provide any useful information.

He was quoted as saying:

"The ministry says that there are some badly burnt corpses that have not been identified... The ministry has not given us any concrete answer. It is sad, because we don’t have closure."

The relatives begged the federal government to help them to find out what had happened to their family head.

It would be recalled that the June 25 explosion left at least 21 people dead and 17 injured, as it was claimed by the police. Military killed the suspected bomber right at the scene as he was trying to escape and arrested another suspect in connection with the attack.

It was later revealed that more explosives were seized from the suspects who coordinated the bombing.

This attack came after the two deadly explosions at Nyanya Motor Park in the country's capital, with up to hundred of casualties. All this resulted in mass panic and alertness among Abuja residents over the insurgency spreading in all the regions of the country.

Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau claimed responsibility for Emab Plaza explosion in the video made available last week.
