8,000 Ekiti APC Members Defect To PDP After Fayose's Victory - Senator Bode Ola

Former Senator for Ekiti Central constituency Festus Olabode Ola, claimed massive defection of APC members to PDP.

According to information provided by Senator Bode Ola to newsmen on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti, at least 8,000 members of the APC in Ekiti have defected to the People's Democratic Party, PDP, in the last couple of weeks. Such a behaviour is said to be provoked by the victory of a PDP flag bearer Ayodele Fayose in the 21 June governorship election in the state.

Although a onetime loyalist of the All Progressives Congress, APC, said that among the defectors there are people from Ado, Ijero, Ekiti West, Efon and Irepodun/Ifelodun, all in Ekiti Central Senatorial District, their names or positions held were not specified.

“I can confirm to you that people keep coming to me almost on daily basis to signify their interest to follow me to PDP. This is because they knew I served them well while in the Senate and also trusted that Fayose who I am supporting is a reliable person.

When the righteous is in authority like it is in the case with Fayose, the people rejoice and want to identify with you probably because they know we have better programmes for them in PDP.”

It would be recalled that Senator Ola served for one term in APC and did not win the party’s endorsement for a second term in 2011. He formally declared his support for the former governor during a courtesy call on the PDP gubernatorial candidate.
