Nigerian Youths Dare APC To Disprove Involvement In Boko Haram Affairs
In a press release forwarded to Legit.ng, one of Nigeria's youth organizations condemns the opposition party, the All Progressives Congress, for their criticism of the President Goodluck Jonathan-led government, and urges them to disprove their involvement in Boko Haram affairs.
The Movement for the Advancement of Youth Governance (MAYG) describe themselves as "a positive social catalyst targeted at rejuvenating youth consciousness for good governance". In their message, they say they are watching with "amusement" the "ongoing debacle of Nigerian opposition".
"First, their [the APC's] failed attempt to wish away Fani Kayode's assertion, and, secondly, the veiled acknowledgment of the rising political profile and influence of a supposed "clueless leader" who outwitted them in their own terrain in the "Ekiti tsunami" as accentuated by their cries of militarization and no militarization after their woeful loss.
"The position of the British Parliament where Labour MP Sandra Osborne, Mr Andrew Rosindell alongside other prominent MP's sought to examine alleged links between APC and Boko Haram in their notices to the UK foreign secretary, vindicates our position that these opposition "Chief Patrons" General Buhari and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar inter alia and indeed APC has questions to answer with regards the escalated level of terrorism and sectarian violence in Nigeria, especially when taking cognizance of their irrefutable verbal bombs (pre and post the 2011 elections) that speak volumes of their proclivity to non-violence, peace and statesmanship," the statement reads.
Recall that about a month ago, former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode, known for his bold political statements on controversial subjects, has warned the APC against publicly attacking him, threatening to expose their "atrocities" such as "ties" with Boko Haram, "truth" about Chibok abduction, "Islamist agenda," etc. Mr. Kayode and the main opponent of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) became engaged in a series of mutual accusations and threats.
In a related development, following the world's careful, albeit short-lived, attention to the fate of Chibok girls abducted by Boko Haram, some prominent MPs of the United Kingdom's Labour Party prompted to examine the alleged links between the terrorists and the APC. In their statement, the MAYG commended the British Parliament for "asking pertinent questions on this terrorism conspiracy".
"When the Mother of this Nation raised a lamentation with regards the terrorism conspiracy and warned that "there is God" (Daniel 2:28), the "cabal," in trying to prove her wrong and state by their actions that "there is no God," masterminded the ridicule and mockery of the message and the messenger and orchestrated a mega and hyped spree of bombings, forgetting that its only "The fool that says in his heart that there's no God" (Psalm 14:1; 53:1)," the statement further reads.
This particular excerpt refers to the episode of Dame Patience Jonathan's dramatic speech on missing Chibok girls, when she was reduced to tears and shown on national television. The video clip was used to ridicule the First Lady, with the APC calling her outburst "the theatrical intervention of Patience Jonathan".
The MAYG, therefore, urges the APC "to expel every arm-twisting, diversionary, character-assassinating and disparaging antic against those asking pertinent questions," and "leverage their moral burden by proving beyond all reasonable doubt ... why we should disbelieve the insinuation that Boko Haram is the armed wing of the opposition."
The youth organization then urges Nigerians, "especially the youth, the British Parliament, the International Community and the United Nations" to strongly support President Jonathan, the National Assembly and security forces so as to identify and neutralize sponsors of terrorism.
"Finally, in keeping with the deductions from Corinthians 4:18 and Romans 4:17b we want to urge all men of good will to join in Operation 20:27, a prayer modus operandi of Job 20:27 ("The heaven shall reveal his iniquity; and the earth shall rise up against him") and let the God that answers by fire (speedily) be God," they state in conclusion.
