National Conference Recommendations Will Be Trashed - Lawmaker Jim Adun

Jim Adun, a House of Representatives member, representing Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency on Wednesday, revealed that the various recommendations made by delegates at the ongoing National Conference would end up in trash can.

According to The Nation, the two-time house of Representative member, who said the Confabs’ recommendations would not see the light of the day, explained that it will be a slight on the National Assembly if the proceedings of hand-picked citizens were adopted and passed into law.

The Honorable went ahead to distinct the lawmakers from the selected delegates, saying; members of the National Assembly were elected by the people to represent them as well as make laws that would transform their lives for the better.

He described as “very reckless” for the delegates to actually think that the house will adopt their proceedings.

“I am one individual who is against the national conference. It is an exercise in futility. How do you get unelected people to waste public resources and make recommendations for us to pass into law? We must face the truth. We have weak persons in government if you can shut down the state and National Assemblies and let us go and have a National Conference,” Adun said.

Adun, who is pursuing the senatorial seat of the Edo South Senatorial District under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the coming election, while fielding question on his ambition said: “We have taken cue from the state and the challenge before us is to improve on what then state governor has done. We have achieved a lot in the House of Representatives in terms of bringing to our people dividends of democracy to our people.”
