Umaru Fintiri being sworn in as acting governor
He was sworn in by the President of the Customary Court in the State at the council chambers of Government House, Yola.
Giving a short remark after his swearing in, the new acting governor promised to pay the civil servants their two months outstanding salaries being owed them by the state government.
Premium Times reports that Fintiri will hold office for a maximum of 3 months during which time the electoral commission, INEC, is expected to conduct a fresh governorship election.
Part of the allegations against him was the alleged cut in civil servants salaries for the month of June. Civil servants were also not paid for July because the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, froze the accounts of the state government at the beginning of impeachment process against the governor and his deputy.
