Nasarawa Impeachment: Clerk Prevented From Serving Gov. Al-Makura Notice
The clerk of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Ego Maikeffi, has been reportedly denied access to serve the governor of the state, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, an impeachment notice.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, July 15, Maikeffi said he had been denied access to the Government House, Lafia on three occasions thereby preventing him from serving the governor the notice.
He said: "I was there on Monday and I was told they travelled to Doma Local Government for a function. After waiting, security operatives at the second gate denied me access. Today (Tuesday) I was there on two occasions with my official vehicle yet I was denied access from the first gate."
According to Premium Times report, Maikeffi said that the Assembly would use alternative means like the media to ensure that Gov. Almakura was dully served with the impeachment notice.
There were reports yesterday that Nasarawa State House of Assembly had commenced impeachment proceedings against Gov. Al-Makura, directing Mr. Maikeffi to serve him with the impeachment notice which was signed by 20 of the 24 lawmakers in the state during a sitting presided over by the Speaker, Musa Mohammed (PDP-Nasarawa Central).

Among the Nasarawa Assembly, there are 20 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and only 4 APC lawmakers.
The governor who is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been accused of extra-budgetary expenses, misconduct and misappropriation of funds.
It would recalled that in a recent development Adamawa State Governor Murtala Nyako was accused of the same crime and served an impeachment notice. Nyako was finally impeached almost a month later, on July 15, 2014.
