62-Year-Old Judge Murdered By Unknown Gunmen In Taraba

A 62 year-old area court judge of Bali, Alh. Mohammed Abubakar Abbare (Zamfara) was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State.

According to Leadership report, the judge, who was driving himself at 6am on Saturday, was on his way to supervise his farm, when the gunmen, suspected to be armed robbers, attacked him at Hawan Bagoni, in-between Bali and Jatau village along Bali-Takum road in Bali council area of the state.

An eyewitness, identified as Mallam Isihaka Ahmed, said he was hiding in the bush, when the late judge ran into the armed robbers along Bagoni area, where they ordered people to lie down.

He explained that when the late judge noticed there were robbers on the road, he tried to reverse but his car failed to function. The gunmen then opened fire on him, resulting in his death.

After shooting him dead, they searched him and all those they had ordered to lie down on the floor and carted away money, handsets and other valuables.

Confirming the incident, the Taraba State Police Command’s public relations officer, ASP Joseph Kwaji, said the command has drafted men to the area, adding that investigation was ongoing.

Judge Mohammd Abubakar Abbare from Zamfara State, has since been buried according to Islamic rites in Bali.
