Stay Away From Bayelsa – ACF Warns Boko Haram

Hausa and Fulani communities in Bayelsa State through the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) have warned the dreaded Boko Haram sect to stay away from the state.

Speaking at a security summit organised over the weekend in Yenagoa, the security Committee Chairman of the ACF, Mr. Kutcheti John, said the group had started taking measures to stop Boko Haram from infiltrating the sate.

John explained that a routine checks on northerners living in the state had already commenced, which is one of the measures the group is taking to prevent the sect from gaining access to Bayelsa.

According to The Nation report, the summit was organised by the state Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr. Desmond Agu.

While noting that Boko Haram attacks had become a global issue, which should not be localised, he warned that if the country wants to win the war against terror, Boko Haram issue should not be treated as a domestic problem.

Earlier in June, the ACF had urged Boko Haram insurgents to embrace the Amnesty deal being proposed by the Federal Government.

In May, the ACF had accused the Nigerian military forces and other security operatives of cooperating with Boko Haram members in Northern Nigeria.

Boko Haram attacks are now becoming a daily occurrence. This morning (July 14), suspected Boko Haram insurgents had allegedly invaded Dille village in Askira-Uba LGA, Borno State, killing scores of people.

Over the weekend, the popular Madafuma bridge linking 185km Biu- Damboa- Maiduguri federal road was reportedly destroyed by gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram.
