According to Thisday, the move is aimed at Jonathan paving the way for declaring his ambition to run for the second term in the presidential elections to be held in February, 2015.
The participants will reportedly first gather at the Asokoro, Abuja residence of the National Chairman, and then proceed to Presidential Villa. A presidency source revealed that Jonathan is likely to declare his presidential ambition during the today's meeting and was quoted as saying:
"The decision to officially inform the party and the governors stems from his recognition of the governors as being the field commanders in their states and it would not be fair for them and the party to get the information of his decision to seek re-election secondhand."
It would be recalled that in one of the recent developments PDP ex-chairman Bamanga Tukur pledged his support to President Jonathan if he decides to run for re-election in 2015. Also, several groups had previously urged the country leader to declare his presidential ambition.
