When he came back from his business, he met his uncle quarreling with some neighbours. His uncle had wanted him to take side with him but he refused and went about his business. Infuriated by this, the uncle went into the house, picked up acid from the room and poured on his nephew.

Recounting his ordeal, the victim who is currently receiving treatment at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) said it was while he was washing the cutlasses which he used to kill cows after his school hours that his uncle went into his aunt’s room where he removed the acid and used it on him.

"I never suspected my uncle had any bad intention towards me. He bathed me right from the left side of my face to the other parts of my body," he said.
