Gunmen Kidnap Pro-Amaechi Lawmaker
A lawyer and Chairman of Judiciary committee of Rivers State House of Assembly representing Etche Constituency, Golden Chioma has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.
Chioma, a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC and a pro-Governor Chibuike Amaechi’s lawmaker was kidnapped on the night of Tuesday, July 8, in Diobu area of Port Harcourt and taken to unknown destination, PM News reports.
The motive behind the lawmaker's kidnap is yet unknown.
The abductors are yet to establish contact with the lawmaker’s family.

Confirming the incident, the Spokesperson of Police Command in Rivers, Muhammad Ahmad, said that investigation into the abduction was ongoing.
"Our detectives from anti-kidnap unit and State Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, are on top of the incident to ensure that the legislator is freed unharmed," Mr. Ahmad said.
It would be recalled that last month, gunmen kidnapped the elderly mother of Bayelsa State Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Furuebi Akene, from her home located in Southern Ijaw LGA while demanding for his resignation.
Also, on May 30, a 90-year-old mother-in-law of another state official, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Kombowei Benson, was abducted.
