Police Rescue 34 Kidnapped Children In Delta

Delta State police have reportedly rescued 34 children from the hands of the kidnappers in Okunzu community located not far from Asaba.

According to the information gathered by Leadership, 2 suspects were killed in the operation carried out last Friday. 

The police public relations official Celestina Kalu disclosed that the victims had been deceived by kidnappers into a pick-up van with registration number AA 136 XX. As on the tip-off, the detectives ambushed the criminals, two of them were shot dead, however 3 others managed to escape.

Kalu added that none of the children were hurt during the rescue operation.

Kalu also mentioned that scared community residents had previously reported about the alleged invasion of ritualists into the area. 

Meanwhile it has been almost 3 months since over 250 girls were abducted from Chibok school, Borno State. Despite the effort of the local agencies and international forces to bring the students back, no tangible results have been reached in connection with the incident. 

Recent news reaching media from the affected town say that some of the girls' parents, unable to handle the grief, died due to the trauma.
