Police Arrest Fake Pastor For Duping People
A fake pastor, identified as Umeokeke Cyprian Uche, has been arrested by the Enugu state police for duping people through an orphanage home that never existed.
According to Leadership, the command’s public relations officer Ebere Amaraizu said that the suspect defrauded people through social media, Facebook, by posing as Maiduguri-based Reverend Uche Philips. The fraudster asked his unsuspecting victims to pay money into a bank account he opened. Fake pastor usually explained in his messages that material gifts are not welcomed due to insurgency there.

Amaraizu said: “According to the suspect, Umeokeke Cyprian Uche who claimed that he hailed from Aku Village, Ezinifite Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State and who claimed also to be 24 years and a 600 level student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka in the Department of Physics and Industrial Physics, the nefarious act was perpetrated by him through the use of his facebook page to create or open up another page with the name, Reverend Uche Phillips and with a reverend father picture to convince his would- be- victims and post prayers in the page and people will start commenting and following and through the comments, he will now inform those that commented and were following him that his ministry has an orphanage home at Maiduguri and that they are kindly requested to support the orphanage home with money and not materials because of the security situation there.”
The Command’s public relations officer, said the suspect also revealed that he started the illicit act in the month of January 2014 but has not made so much money but was expecting large sums from his ‘captured’ victim before luck ran against him and he fell into the waiting hands of the operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (S.A.R.S) of the Enugu State command of the Nigeria Police Force.
