We Have Enough Equipment To Fight Boko Haram - FG

The Coordinator, National Information Centre, Mike Omeri, on Monday said that the Federal Government has more sophisticated weapons than the radical Islamist sect, Boko Haram.

The coordinator, who made the assertion while speaking at a news conference in Abuja, refuted insinuation in some parts of the country that Boko Haram was more geared than the Nigerian Army.

He stressed that the Nigerian Army had the equipment to fight and curtail the activities of the sect, adding that the military were more equipped and well trained to curtail the activities of insurgents.

Omeri further revealed that lots of assets and security gadgets are being deployed for the fight against Boko Haram and the Federal Government will not relent in its efforts to bring them to justice.

According to him, the recent incessant attacks by the sect members was an indication that their days were coming to an end, and that this accounts for their desperation.

Omeri urged Nigerians to remain calm and ignore unfriendly statements that could instigate breach of security.

"We wish to state our concern over statements being dished out by various organisations, groups and some individuals that tend to further worsen the security situation in the country.

"We call on Nigerians to stop any war mongering aimed at heating up the already tense situation in the polity," he said.
