True Muslim Will Never Kill Innocent People, Especially During Ramadan – Jonathan
An official statement by President Goodluck Jonathan was released in reaction to the deadly attack on churches in Kautikari and some other villages of Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State by the suspected Boko Haram sect on June 29.

Speaking in a Ramadan message signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Rueben Abati, in Abuja, the President said, “I urge all lovers of peace and unity to wholly condemn the resurgence of efforts by agents of global terrorism to disunite and destabilise Nigeria by callously instigating violence among religious groups.”

In the statement Goodluck Jonathan stressed out that he fully agrees with the Islamic leaders and scholars that no true Muslim at any time, especially during the sacred month of Ramadan, will resort to the mindless killing of innocent people. It expressed the President’s belief that Boko Haram attacks showed that its leaders and members were misguided persons who used religion to commit crimes.
Jonathan has called on all Nigerians, Muslim faithful and non-Muslims, to resist the continuous attempts by Boko Haram to undermine their belief and support for the Nigerian Army. He reaffirmed the military and national security agencies' readiness to deploy maximum efforts towards the elimination of terrorists in the country.

He expressed his condolence to the families of the deceased and other friends and associates that lost loved ones, members and places of worship during Sunday’s attacks. Earlier Jonathan extended his greetings to all the Muslims as they begin this year’s Ramadan fast.
Also President Goodluck Jonathan's wife, Patience Jonathan, in her Ramadan message has urged Muslim women in Africa to spread the culture of peace in their communities.
