UN Source Allegedly Warns Abuja Residents Of Impending Attacks
The UN has allegedly warned Nigerians of impending attacks to be launched in the FCT and urged people to spread the news alert.
According to Daily Independent, the message which has been spread throughout the social media reads:
"News got to us that our enemies, enemies of peace, enemies of the ALMIGHTY GOD (BH & affiliation) are said to be planning something evil in this holy month of Ramadan of evil act bigger than Nyanya bomb blast between Tuesday and Wednesday in Abuja."
It also urges people to be careful and avoid overcrowded places and ways with heavy traffic. In the end the author of the message calls on the reader to "pass it round" to save others' lives. It is stated in the final paragraph that the data about upcoming attacks was obtained from a reliable source in the UN office.
The message provides that the likely spots of attacks include Wuse market, Garki, Area 1 and 2, Durumi, Sheraton and Kubwa.
Speaking with journalists, Abuja residents expressed their fear over the terrorist activities in the country capital. One of the locals identified as Reuben Ifeanyi was quoted saying:
"The insurgents have turned to Abuja; it is only God that can save us. Nobody knows where the next attack will be."
It would be recalled that last week a ghastly explosion rocked the shopping mall Emab Plaza in Abuja, leaving at least 21 dead and 17 injured. Police stated they had shot the alleged bomber and arrested another suspect in connection with the case.
Nyanya explosion, which is referred to in the message, occurred on April 14 and claimed scores of lives. Days later, another bomb went off in the same area causing panic among Abuja residents, who do not feel safe in the country capital any longer.
