Man Commits Suicide Over Break Up With Fiancee
A 33-year-old man, Oluwatosin Otaiku, reportedly committed suicide on Saturday at Onikolobo area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, after his fiancee, Olaogun Oluwatoyin, broke up with him.
Punch reported that Otaiku stabbed himself to death in a shop at Safari junction in Onikolobo after a futile effort made by concerned neighbours who tried to reconcile the duo.
An eyewitness, who spoke on condition of anonymity explained that the neighbours intervened when they saw that the deceased was very worried following the breakup. He said they invited them to talk privately inside the shop, but unknowingly to them that the deceased had a knife hidden in his pocket with the intention of ending it all if his fiancee didn't return to him.

The witness said Oluwatoyin, however, insisted that she would not continue with the relationship, an answer that didn't go well with Otaiku, who in a reaction, brought out the knife in his pocket and repeated stabbed himself in the stomach. He said Oluwatoyin ran out of the shop thinking she was the target, but upon realising she wasn't, she quickly raised alarm and neighbours rushed in to find Otaiku stabbing himself.
The witness said Otaiku was quickly rushed to Mercy Hospital in the Panseke area of Abeokuta, but was referred to the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, but unfortunately died on his way.
It was further gathered that the tragedy was reported at the Adigbe Police Division, where policemen were dispatched to the scene for investigation. The policemen, who conveyed the corpse to Ijaye General Hospital mortuary, also took away three people.

The state police spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident. He said the remains of the deceased is still with the command as they intend to carry out a post-mortem examination on the deceased, adding that statements taken from eyewitnesses were also being examined by the command.
"The lady is still with us, she is still our suspect for now until we carry out a proper investigation on the corpse" Adejobi said. "We need some time to study the statements, but the expert’s opinion is to carry out a post-mortem on the body which we are going to do. I can assure you that the command will do the needful in order to get to the root of the incident."
