Patience Jonathan Urges Muslim Women In Africa To Pray For Peace
President Goodluck Jonathan's wife Patience Jonathan in her Ramadan message has urged Muslim women throughout Africa to spread the culture of peace in their communities.
According to PM News, Nigeria's First Lady, who is also the President of African First Ladies Peace Mission, called on the women to use the sacred month of Ramadan to "demonstrate submission to the Almighty by upholding an important pillar of Islam through the observance of fasting. They should also engage in spiritual introspection and rededicate themselves to God."
Dame Patience also stressed the need for African women to teach their children the importance of such virtues as peace, humility and tolerance.
Delivering her message through her spokesperson, the First Lady urged women "to intensify prayers to change the hearts of those perpetrating violence".
It would be recalled that Goodluck Jonathan in his previous message congratulated Nigerian Muslims on sighting of the moon, which was followed by Ramadan announcement, and urged Nigerian Muslims to pray for peace in the country.
