PDP Commends Kayode Fayemi For Accepting Defeat With Honour
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have praised the former Ekiti governor, Kayode Fayemi, for accepting the news about his defeat with honour and for congratulating the winner of Saturday guber election in the state, Ayodele Fayose.
The official statement signed by PDP National Publicity Secretary Olisa Metuh was released on Monday, according to Premium Times, and read in part:
"This exceptional show of statesmanship has indeed earned Governor Fayemi the respect and admiration of Nigerians as a man of honour, a true democrat and a patriot."
Metuh stressed the fact that the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate "exhibited the spirit of sportsmanship propagated and practiced by the PDP" urging Nigerian politicians to follow it, come the 2015 elections.
The ruling party also thanked Ekiti resident for having the confidence in the PDP reinstating their commitment to ensuring transparent primaries aimed at providing only popular candidates for elections".
It would be recalled that the defeated representative of the All Progressives Congress (APC), already the former governor, congratulated the winner after the official announcement of the election results and said that he respected the will of Ekiti people.
