Damaturu Viewing Centre Bombing: 21 Dead, 27 Injured
The residents of the capital city of Yobe State, Damaturu, storm General Sani Abacha Specialist Hospital and other medical institutions in the area, in search of their relatives and friends, who visited a local football viewing centre during Brazil vs Mexico match on June 17, 2014, Tuesday.
Some of the people went to hospitals, while others went to the scene of the bomb blast to see the carnage themselves.
A medical official at Damaturu General Hospital confirmed to SaharaReporters that 21 people were killed in the attack, while 27 people were seriously injured.
The survivors are currently occupying all the available beds.
One of them told the following to ChannelsTV reporter:
Meanwhile, the police spokes person, Frank Mba, urged football fans to watch FIFA World Cup matches at home, with families and friends, and abstain from visiting crowded viewing centres.
It would be added that an unnamed military source assured SaharaReporters that Boko Haram Islamist terrorist group was behind the attack.
The terrorists have recently targeted a football viewing centre in Jos, where people gathered to watch the final of UEFA Champions League.
