Court Convicts Driver For Reckless Driving
A 32-Year-old driver, Alumja Felix, was on Wednesday sentenced to eight months imprisonment by an Akure Magistrates’ Court for reckless driving.
The Magistrate, Mrs Olubukola Kuye, sentenced the driver with hard labour after he pleaded guilty to one count charge of dangerous and reckless driving.
She explained that the sentence would serve as a deterrent to other reckless drivers like the convict.
ASP Pelumi Adejuwon, the police prosecutor had earlier told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 14, at about 7:45 p.m at Fasoranti road, opposite Federal College of Agriculture, Akure, Ondo State.
"He was the driver in charge of one Nissan Bus with registration number WWW 01 XA and drove on the public highway in a dangerous and reckless manner" he said. "He further caused damage to one Toyota Camry car with registration number ONDO AKR 509 AE owned by one Henry Ojagbohunmim."
