Boko Haram Issues New Threat To Chibok Residents
Residents of troubled Chibok community in Borno State still do not feel safe as the members of Boko Haram Islamist sect has issued another warning on an impending attack, CAJ News report.
This has been confirmed by a senior official from the Chibok local government area during a briefing for journalists in the capital city of Borno State, Maiduguri.
He said that the local authorities had received a letter full of threats, in which the terrorists warned them of the upcoming attack. The message was forwarded to security forces for analysing.
At the same time, the Nigeria Police Force assured the residents of being able to protect the area. The local people did not believe the promise and panicked, as all of them clearly remember Boko Haram raids and mass kidnappings, in particular April 14-15 abduction of female students from the local Girls’ Governmental Secondary School.
It would be recalled that Boko Haram terrorises Chibok area from time to time, while the security forces are often helpless.
In one of the recent attacks, at least 17 people lost their lives in a Boko Haram raid on a village close to Chibok.
At least 219 schoolgirls remain missing for 64th day.
