1, 000 PDP Members Join APC
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara state on Sunday lost no fewer than 1,000 members to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The defectors who were led by Ajadi Abdulfatai, were from the seven wards in Ilorin West Local Government Area.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Ajadi said they left APC because their expectations were not met.
According to him, they had joined APC because they thought there would be a lot of dividends of democracy for them
"We thought we would enjoy fair play and justice, but the reverse is the case, that is why we are joining PDP," Ajadi said.
He added that they have seen that PDP has men and women who are God-fearing, serious and poised to wipe away tears from the faces of the masses.
“So, we have brought out our members from the seven wards of Ilorin West Local Government Area for a start”.
PM News reports that the defectors were received by Alhaji Mustapha Isowo, State Vice chairman (Central) of the PDP, at Alore in Ajikobi ward, Ilorin.
The defectors surrendered their APC membership cards to Isowo and they were given PDP cards in return.
Happy over the courage of the defectors who left APC for PDP, Isowo assured them that their dreams and aspirations would be actualised in PDP and they would be given equal treatment.
Politicians have been defecting from party to the other.
Recall that there was a mass defection of about 7,000 in Adamawa State, from the APC to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in May.
APC suffered a huge blow in Imo state, when at least 6,000 members announced the return to PDPin April 2014.
