BOKO HARAM: Police Flee, Leave Arms Behind

Policemen attached to Sumaila local government Divisional Police Station, Kano yesterday night, June 12 are reported to have fleed and left behind their arms and ammunitions, after suspected Boko Haram members stormed the station on motorbikes.

The incident happened at about 8.45pm immediately after market activities in the town.

There has however been no report on the casualty or the extent of the havoc following the gun battle between the Policemen and the suspected Boko Haram Insurgents.

It was reported yesterday that the Police however, repelled the suspected Boko Haram terrorists.

Meanwhile according to Leadership correspondent, who was at Sumaila, as the AIG Zone 1, Muhammad Tambari Yabo received and lead the House of Representatives member, representing Takai/Sumaila, Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila, to the scene from the airport, observed that the divisional police station was riddled with bullets.

Efforts to get the AIG Zone 1, Muhammad Tambari Yabo comment on the attack proved abortive as he was visibly frustrated and angry.

Over the past few days, there's been confusion, violence in Kano state following the emergence of former CBN Governor, Lamido Sanusi as the new Emir of Kano with the Police reportedly laying siege on emir's palace.
