Boko Haram Demand Cows In Exchange For Abducted Women
No fewer than 20 young women from three clustered nomadic settlement were abducted on Thursday, June 5, by suspected Islamist Boko Haram group near Chibok, close to the place where the group abducted more than 200 schoolgirls.
The gunmen were said to have tormed the villages of Bakin Kogi, Garkin Fulani and Rugar Hardo along Damboa road in Chibok local government seized the women, ordered them into vehicles at gunpoint and drove them off to an unknown location.
According to the residents of the affected region, the nomads fleeing from the villages claimed that Islamist insurgents demanded cattle in exchange for the abducted women.
"One of them named Mohammed told me Boko Haram held the men at gunpoint and moved from hut to hut taking the women," said Yahaya Musa.
"The abductors told them to bring a ransom of cows," said farmer Yakub Chibok.
However, till now the information about the abduction in the aforementioned villages was not confirmed by police or army spokesman.
Meanwhile there are strong indications that the Federal Government is ready to increase the operational allowances of soldiers on Internal Security Operation (ISO) nationwide so as to boost their fight against terrorism.
Earlier at least 7 countries agreed to send experts and troops to Nigeria to assist in the search for the students, among them are USA, UK, France, China, Canada, Iran and Israel.
