Namadi Sambo Says Violence Is Caused By Lack Of Cultural Values

Nigeria Vice President Namadi Sambo has attributed the upsurge of violence in the country to the lack of cultural values.

Represented by the Kaduna State Deputy Governor Ambassador Nuhu Bajoga at the opening ceremony of the conference titled "Culture, Peace and National Security", he was also quoted saying that the abducted Chibok girls would be back home alive.

"Our current security challenges are clearly the resultant effects of the breakdown or abandonment of our cultural values of honesty, hard work, respect for elders, among others. "

Thus stressing the correlation between security issues and cultural values, Sambo pointed out "the urgent need for deliberate cultural re-engineering that places high premium on our cultural values", adding that Nigerian traditional institutions prove key in this issue.
