Court Remands Teacher For Allegedly Raping Teenager

A 24-year-old teacher, Paul Salau was on April 22, Thursday, remanded at Kirikiri prison by an Abule Egba Senior Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly raping a 19-year-old teenager.

The accused who resides at 14, Ishola Yusuf St, Agege area of the state was said to have committed the crime on May 18, at his residence.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Rachael Williams, told the court that the complainant, a 19-year-old girl was sent to house of the accused to grind pepper, where she met only the accused at home.

“It was an opportunity for the accused, who has been making advances at the girl for almost a year, so he dragged her to his room.

“The accused tore the girl’s shirt, forcefully removed her trouser and raped her, she screamed but no one heard her,” Williams said.

Paul was arrested after the girl reported the incident to her mother who reported to the police.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Senior Magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias, adjourned the case to June 18 to rule on the suspect’s bail application.
