30 People Killed In Fresh Attack On Borno Village
Gunmen killed at least 30 residents of Shawa village, Damboa LGA, Borno State, Leadership reports.
The attack was said to have been launched around 4am, when the gunmen invaded the village and started shooting sporadically and burning houses.
One of the survivors, Musa Yakubu, told the correspondent that the attackers were chanting "Allahu akbar" (God is great).
Nigerian Vigilance Group spokesperson, Muhammed Gava, confirmed the incident, saying 30 people died. He added:
"Our men in Damboa had visited the village in the morning and reported to us that the village, which is close to Kilakisa community along Biu-Maiduguri highway, had been deserted; and they had to help gather the corpses for burial."
The incident comes hours after the dire twin explosion rocked Jos, Plateau State, leaving at least 118 people dead.
