Maku Says Government Knows How To Bring Back Chibok Girls

Information Minister Labaran Maku has claimed that the Nigerian authorities know how to bring back Chibok schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram insurgents on April 14.

According to The Nation, the official however refused to disclose details of the operation.

Speaking on the issue yesterday in Abuja  the minister said:

"We are looking at the perceptions about what Nigerians think, but the position of the government is to unite everybody. This government knows what it wants to do and what it will do to face the challenges of Chibok. But I am not here to tell you what it will do."

When asked to comment on why there was such a delay in taking actions by the government, Maku said it had taken time for the authorities "to define story", adding that even today there are some controversial and confusing points about the abduction saga.

He said that the government's approach is to unite Nigerians in the search of the girls and do everything possible to pull them out of the insurgents' hands.

Switching to the issue of terrorism in Nigeria, Maku said:

"We must all agree that terrorism is bad and must be scrapped from Nigeria. To defeat terrorism, we need everybody."
