The convict, who stays in City of David Estate, Gwarimpa, was docked on a two count charge of criminal force and causing.

Francis was sentenced by the presiding judge, Abubakar Sadiq, after he pleaded guilty to the charges.

The judge did not give the convict an option of fine.

Sadiq explained that the sentence was to serve as deterrent to other men who might engage in similar acts.

The police prosecutor, Sgt. Salisu Mohammed, had earlier told the court that Mrs Faith Eze, reported the accused at the Gwarimpa Police Station on May 15, after the complainant sent her son to fetch some water but was sent back by the accused person.

The prosecutor told the court that when the complainant asked the accused why he stopped her son from fetching the water, he beat her and her son up, and inflicted serious injuries on them with a saw.

Mohammed said the accused confessed to the crime during police investigation.

The prosecutor said that the offence was contrary to the FCT Penal Code.
