Good Collaboration Between Sudan And Nigeria Allowed To Arrest Nyanya Mastermind

The mastermind of Nyanya bomb blast, Sadiq Aminu Ogwuche, was arrested in Sudan because of good collaboration of Nigeria and Sudan’s intelligence community, according to Sudanese High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr. Tagelsir Mahgoub Ali.

Sadiq Aminu Ogwuche was declared wanted with a bounty of N25million placed on his head by Nigerian security forces as one of the masterminds who are responsible for Nyanya blasts that claimed over 70 lives.

According to Vanguard, Ambassador Ali stated that Sudan’s intelligence community learnt from Nigeria that one of the people involved in the explosions is in Sudan. "Therefore, the security personnel in Sudan started the search for this person and they finally laid hands on him and certain arrangements have to be done through the Interpol to hand the culprit over to Nigeria," he said.

Ambassador Ali also revealed how the Boko Haram member sneaked into Sudan. As Ogwuche has got a British passport, he might have used this passport to sneak into the country so that he cannot be detected by the Sudanese authorities.

Sudanese High Commissioner to Nigeria underlined that as Sudanese security people were very alert, they immediately took action when they learnt that the terrorist can be in Sudan. "I think that is very important just to show Nigeria that we will not allow such persons to go free in Sudan," he said.

Ambassador Ali added that Nigerian visa applicants were now required to come with verifiable references as proof of not having any connection with extremists or terrorists organisations.
