APC Wants Jonathan To Visit Chibok Secretly

Nigeria’s main opposition force, the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed strong disappointment over President Jonathan’s aborted visit to Chibok, emphasised that such a move was quite typical for his administration.

The party declared that statement by the Presidential Aide saying Jonathan had never planned to visit the town, where the horrible abduction of over 200 female students took place on April 14, was untrue, because, according to multiple reports, the presidential advance team was deployed in Borno State. The statement further noted that the controversy over the visit was the fault of the president and his “lying aides”.

Therefore, the APC advised President Jonathan to go to Chibok, but to do it in a confidential manner, without public announcements ahead of the visit.

It would be added that during a security summit in France the president commented on the situation, mentioned that visiting the scene of tragedy would not help releasing the girls, as they were not held there.

The APC also reminded that the decision by Jonathan’s administration to ignore the problems of communities in the North East made citizens to grab dane guns, machetes and other weapons and to start defending themselves from Boko Haram
