Chibok Kidnapping: US, Other's Blockade Against Boko Haram Imminent
An arms blockade against Boko Haram is being led by the United States of America as an effort to restrict and prevent the terrorist group's access to firearms.
The abducted girls
This development as stated in the summit of West African leaders being held today in Paris is to ease the rescue of over 200 schoolgirls abducted by the group over a month ago in government secondary school in Chibok, Borno state.
The United States will also be deploying more drones to aid in tracking the abducted girls.
According to sources, the US and others may mount a total land and air blockade against Boko Haram to rescue the abducted schoolgirls any moment from now.
The ongoing Paris summit was convened by France to enable Nigeria work hand-in-had with its Francophone neighbouring countries and come up with appropriate modalities on how Boko Haram insurgencies and the rescue of the abducted girls would be managed.
The summit is also geared towards bringing Cameroon, Mali, Chad and Niger to work together against the likelihood of Boko Haram insurgencies spilling into their territories, as the terrorist group has been said to have erected bases in these 4 countries, where they coordinate their activities.
The Intelligence community strongly believes that the war against Boko Haram and the planned rescue of the girls cannot be achieved without the cooperation of the Francophone countries.
The three main issued on the agenda of the Paris summit, according to sources, are blockade of arms and supply to insurgents which had been passing through borders of Francophone countries, how to dismantle all bases of Boko Haram in Cameroon, Mali, Chad and Niger; and allowing allied forces access into the airspace of these neighbouring Francophone countries in other to monitor the terrorists and their activities.
It was also gathered that the Francophone countries are expected to mention their needs to enable France, the US and Allied Forces to address their fears, once these issues are addressed, the final onslaught to rescue the abducted girls will begin.”
More drones are also on their way from the US to Nigeria to help in the international search for the abducted girls and the country's fight against insurgencies.
The whereabouts of the schoolgirls who were abducted still remains unknown amidst plans by Federal Government in collaboration with the United States and other world leaders to guarantee their safe release.
