US Reveals Why They Are Flying Drones In Nigeria

The US Military has explained why they are flying Drones and manned aircraft over Nigeria air space for the past couple of days.

The Pentagon had earlier declined to comment on the issue but today revealed that they are actually flying the robotic Global Hawk and the manned MC-12 to hunt for the missing Chibok girls.

They said:“I can confirm that we’re using both manned and unmanned aerial ISR (intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance) assets in the search for the kidnapped girls,”.

Colonel Steven Warren told journalists that the aircrafts are unarmed and are just on a surveillance mission.

The aircraft Global Hawk, was made to perform at high attitudes and can scan a vast area of about 40,000 square miles (100,000 square kilometers) in a day.

However Pentagon does not plan to share any information gathered with their Nigerian partners as the are still working out an agreement to govern the sharing of intelligence, Warren said.
