Husband Murders Wife Over Bush Meat
A 30-year-old man, Ambrose Anthony has been remanded in prison custody by Jalingo chief magistrate’s court for allegedly killing his wife, Helen over 'bush meat'.
Anthony, a native of Yorro Area,Taraba State committed the crime on April 7, 2014.
According to the prosecutor, Mela Joseph, the accused had an argument with his wife over her failure to account for the bush meat which he bought from the village market. As they argument went on, the accused picked up firewood which he used to hit the wife on her abdomen.
She was said to have died from the injuries which she sustained from the firewood while receiving medical attention at the General Hospital, Zing.
The accused who appeared before the court on Thursday was charged with culpable homicide contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code.
No plea was taken and the magistrate, Victoria Barnabas, adjourned the case till May 20 while remanding the accused in prison custody.
