Boko Haram Kills 300 People in Attack on Ngala Community

Yesterday, May 5, gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram terrorists killed over 300 people in Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State.

The Senator representing the zone, Ahmed Zanna, confirmed the incident.

An anonymous source in the community stated that the invaders spent about 12 hours wreaking havoc on defenceless civilians.

The source said that attackers stormed the communities in the night when residents were still sleeping. They set the houses, shops ablaze and were shooting residents who tried to escaped from the fire.

According to Senator Ahmed Zannah, over 300 persons were confirmed dead after the attack, with several others injured. About 200 vehicles and thousands of houses, shops and an outfit of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) were all burnt. The attackers were armed with dangerous weapons comprising of Armored Personnel Carries (APC), Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), petrol bombs, assault rifles and Rocket Propelled Launchers (RPGs).

The resident added: "My brother who was at the scene of the attack told me that the actual number of the dead cannot be ascertained but at least they are up to 300. In fact as we spoke he wept following the high number of the dead bodies which littered the market."
