Fire Took Lives Of Two Kids Locked Inside A Room In Warri

Two children were burnt alive inside one-room apartment in Igbudu axis of Warri, Delta State.

It was gathered the fire started unexpectedly and began to spread very fast. The children aged between five and seven years were alone when the fire started as their mother went to buy foodstuffs at the nearby Igbudu market in Warri metropolis.

According to the neighbours, the children were trapped inside the room but nothing could be done as the fire spread ferociously and consumed everything in the house.

One of the eyewitnesses said that the most painful was to hear the cry of the innocent children.

The mother of the children, who could not be consoled, was said to have attempted to kill herself on two occasions.

A middle-aged woman, who introduced herself as a relation of the mother of the victims, has appealed to the state government and public spirited persons to assist the parent of the deceased in any way possible to enable them live again as all their belongings were consumed by the inferno.
