President Muhammadu Buhari returned to Nigeria after attending the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Johannesburg, South Africa, on December 4 and 5.

The presidential jet landed in Abuja in the early hours of Sunday, December 6.

The president had a series of meetings with African leaders and President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China.

China has reaffirmed that Nigeria remains one of its strategic partners on the whole continent.

President Buhari had bilateral meetings with President Jose Eduardo dos Santos of Angola and President Jose Mario Vaz of Guinea Bissau.

During the opening day the Nigerian leader met President Mahmadou Issoufou of Niger Republic, President Iddris Deby of Chad and the Zimbabwean president, Robert Mugabe.

The first summit aimed at boosting China-Africa cooperation took place in 2006. One of the main objectives of the historic 2015 event was to outline specific measures aimed at consolidating the growing mutual partnership between Africa and the world's largest economy, China.
