The debris of a 2-storey building allegedly buried alive a tipper driver identified as Kabiru at Ologuneru in Ido Local Government area of Ibadan city.

According to anonymous survivor, before the collapse of the uncompleted building, around 2pm the workers heard a deafening noise which made all of them to run out of the building. At that time they were mixing granite and cement to deck the middle floor of the building.

It was gathered that the man trapped under the debris was a tipper driver who were having a short nap during the incident. "He had supplied many loads of granite. He was told to transfer one of the heaps of granite to another place. When his boys were trying to reload the granite, he said he wanted to have a short nap and have told his boys to wake him after the loading was done," an eyewitness said.

Officials of Oyo State Government, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps and other agencies brought the crane to the side to lift heavy debris up to rescue the man. But at the time of the report, the man wan't rescued and the youths at the site became hostile because they believe the tipper driver may have died already.

It was gathered that the engineer supervising the project had run away immediately after the building collapsed.
