Why Jonathan Sacks His Political Adviser, Gulak

President Jonathan, yesterday, April 29, sacked his political adviser, Alhaji Ahmed Gulak and no reason was given for terminating his appointment.

However it has been revealed according to sources, that Gulak who had a confrontation with Governor of Akwa Ibom State, and Chairman of PDP Governor’s Forum, Chief Godswill Akpabio might have sacked as a result of his interference in the affairs of the Peoples Democratic Party in some states.

It was also learnt that Gulak had stepped on the wrong toes of some powerful people in the corridors of power, with some PDP governors complaining of his utterances, the negative reports about him becoming too involved in internal state politics had insisted the President removes him for the sake of 2015 elections.

Gulak, however, said that his termination was not related to his confrontation with the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, and Chairman of PDP Governor’s Forum, Chief Godswill Akpabio but rather his leaving the presidency was as a result of the people of Adamawa state urging him to run for governor in the 2015 elections as they were tired of the misgovernment of the present governor, Murtala Nyako.

While speaking on his relationship with the President he said: “My relationship with President Goodluck Jonathan is very cordial and PDP is functioning as a family. There is no faction among us and our focus is winning 50 percent of the governorship seats in 2015.”
