President Jonathan's Security Meeting Ends

The enlarged security meeting held in Abuja has come to an end.

The meeting which is part of an enlarged security meeting President Jonathan is holding to review the security situation across the country ended at about 6:50 p.m.

At the end of the meeting, everyone present agreed that security is everybody’s business.

The meeting which focused on the abduction in Chibok, resolved that the military should be empowered in the search of the abducted girls, adding that the Boko Haram menace is not a religious war, as both Christians and Muslims are being killed.

It was also agreed that Fulani herdsmen should be domesticated henceforth.

More so, government officials were cautioned against inciting the citizenry with their statements as Governor, Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State was warned against making divisive utterances.

The meeting also harped on the need for cooperation between all tiers of government in fighting the security challenges in the country, rather than abandoning all the work to the Federal Government.

President Goodluck Jonathan had on Thursday entered a closed-door meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) with the state governors, security chiefs and spiritual leaders at about 12.10pm.

The state of insecurity in the country has continued to worsen in various states across the nation.

Many have been killed in deadly attacks by insurgents. Recently there was a deadly bomb blast in a park in Nyanya, a surburb in Abuja and the following day, over 200 students of Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok in Borno were kidanpped by the dreaded Boko Haram insurgents.
