SHOCKER: Two Women Slap Police Officer In Ogun State

Two women, Remi Odeyemi, 27, and Aishat Showunmi, 19, have been arraigned in a Magistrates’ Court in Ota, Ogun, for allegedly slapping a policeman.

The accused were arraigned by the police on a two-count charge of assault and conspiracy.

According to the prosecutor, Cpl. Olumide Awoleke, Odeyemi and Showunmi slapped Cpl. Yemi Odeniyi while on duty on April 7 at about 8.00 p.m. at Igbusi village in Ifo, Ota, Ogun State.

The prosecutor said that the assault on the police officer was unprovoked, adding that the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 356(i) and 516 of the Criminal Code Revised Law of Ogun, 2006.

Both accused women pleaded not guilty after the charges were read to them while the magistrate, Mrs A.O. Abimbola, admitted them to bail in the sum of N100,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.

Mrs Abimbola adjourned the case until May 14 and ordered the accused persons to present sureties, who must be employees of reputable companies, must swear to affidavit of means, and must produce evidence of two-year tax clearance.

It could be recalled that a police sergeant was accused of raping a 13-year-old daughter of a popular pastor at Ukpor in Anambra State recently.

According to the report, the girl, who said the policeman threatened to kill her if she revealed it to anyone, is now pregnant after opening up to her mother when she started experiencing ‘’stomach pain.
