27 Children Rescued During Police Raid On Illegal Orphanages

27 children were rescued from illegal orphanages in the capital city of Delta State, Asaba, as the result of police raid.

The men of the anti-human trafficking department searched rented apartments which had neither proper signs, nor registrations, but have been illegally operating for more than two years.

The suspected operators of the Christian homes made the members of the public believe that children were undergoing Christian studies there.

According to the LEADERSHIP, some officials of the state Ministry of Women Affairs knew about the existence of the illegal orphanage homes, as they collected bribes from their operators.

The Public relations officer of the state police command, DSP Celestina Kalu, confirmed the raid, stated that the homes were not registered properly indeed. 27 kids, who have been adopted in an unlawful manner, were encountered at these homes.
