Woman Kills 15-Year-Old Son In Akwa Ibom State

Tragedy struck at Atai Obio Offot, Uyo Local Government area of Akwa Ibom State after a woman identified as Mrs. Ita Okokon, aka, Eka Isaac killed her 15-year-old son, Isaac Okokon over a dispute.

The son,  an SSS II pupil of Offot Ukwa Secondary School, Obiofot, Uyo, who was attacked with matchet by his mother did not survive the attack as he later died on Friday.

According to a neighbour, Miss Ekaette Effiong, who narrated what transpired that fateful day said it was as a result of the boy hitting his mother back which landed her on the floor after she had earlier eaten him.

She said: “When Isaac hit his mother that hard, the woman felt humiliated. When she got up, she went inside the house and brought out the machete. She chased her son with the machete, but when she could not get him, she threw the machete at him, which cut through his body”.

Meanwhile the mother who rushed her son to the hospital upon seeing the gravity of what she had done which led to his death, immediately fled the area. While attempts to reach the deceased's father proved futile.

Police Public Relations Officer, Akwa Ibom State Command, Mr. Etim Dickson who confirmed the incident said: “For now nobody has given us information about the whereabouts of the woman.  We have sent in some detectives around the area to look for possible clues that can lead to the arrest of the woman.”
