Gunmen Set Ablaze Girls' School In Yana Town Of Bauchi State

Bauchi State - In early hours of Saturday, unknown gunmen attacked Yana town in Shira LGA of Bauchi State, setting ablaze the staff quarters of Government Girls' Secondary School (GGSS).

The gunmen stormed the town at about 2.30a.m. They also set ablaze the school bus and destroyed several telecommunication masts in the town.

They also attacked and robbed a commercial in the area and escaped in a private car of the principal of GGSS, using it to cart away their loot.

The police have confirmed the attacks and killing a five-year old girl while the attackers destroyed the vault of a local bank.

Other students in the school, however, were not affected.

A combined team of security forces are on the trail of the attackers.
