Kwankwaso Berates Jonathan
The Governor of Kano State, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, on Tuesday dared president Goodluck Jonathan.
The governor while reacting to Jonathan's statement at a party rally, said he can defeat the president within the People's Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking at the second matriculation ceremony of the North West University, which held few hours after Jonathan’s allegation, Kwankwaso also asked if the president was referring to the money given his predecessor in eight years or those given to him in four years.
The governor claimed he spent all the money he got for Kano State to develop both economically and educationally.
Kwankwaso added that if President Jonathan wants to know how he (Kwankwaso) spent Kano state fund, he should take a tour of the state and it's local governments to see for himself.
"Some were asking what happened with Kano state money; which of the money? was that for eight years or for four years? If he was asking about that of four years, he should go to North West University, if you want to know what we have done with the money go to University of Technology, Wudil, Government College, and if you wants that of four go round the Kano state, visit our local governments" Kwankwaso said.
He commended those governors who did not attend the event: "we thank those our friends PDP governors who did not attend the event, one of them called me and said we are not going to be part of this thing. We thank PDP elders who did not come, even if I can contest for election I can even ask APC, APGA members and cast the vote within the PDP and they will see I am more popular".
Kwanwao accused the president of insensitivity, saying he doesn't care about the yearning of Nigerians.
He noted that at a time when the nation should be mourning the Nyanya bombing that left many either dead or injured, the president decided to embark on what he described as 'merry-making trips'.
"At a time when several innocent lives have been lost, when many of the victims are in hospital seeking blood donations to survive, the president is gallivanting round the country in the name of PDP unity rally" he said
"The man came to Kano to smear our image but thank God, the man gave me free publicity by mentioning my name over 50 times in a 15 minute address. The President, his Vice and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation are vultures. They want the PDP to die and feast on its carcass" he said.
The governor asserted that the present disposition is fertilizer to his future political aspiration.
"Supposing I decide to contest for the number one seat in this country, I will beg APC, APGA and Labour Party not cast their votes for me – I want to assure you that with the PDP vote that I will garner, definitely I will defeat the incumbent President hands down" Kwanwao said.
The governor further went ahead to say that the Federal Government, under president Jonathan has failed the people of Kano as well as other Nigerians by not doing what is expected of a responsible government to better the lives of the citizenry.
He revealed that the Jonathan led administration can only boast of building one bridge of not more than N2 billion for Kano State all this while.
