Wiz Kid Talks About Awards, Ojuelegba And Falling In Love With Music
Wiz Kid is definitely on a trajectory with his music cutting across various boundaries of the world and there appears to be no end in sight to this.
He spoke to The Fader, an American music magazine, on his career thus far as he answered questions hovering around his awards, the song Ojuelegba and his upcoming album – Sounds From The Other Side.

Speaking to Phiona Okumu of The Fader, Wiz who has been nominated for Best African Act at the 2015 MOBO Awards following the success of his single Ojuelegba as well as a remix version by Drake and Skepta, responded to the nomination saying:

“My real fans know I am not really about that kind of thing.
“That was not the reason why I fell in love with music.”
“I knew it was a good song,” the afro pop star said of Ojuelegba. “But I didn’t expect it to blow up the way that it did.”
The song borrows its title from a popular Lagos suburb Ojuelegba and he said of the locale:
“My parents still live there. We have a house there.”
The song mirrors his earlier experiences as he meandered through the rough and tough Lagos life of the lower social class which had him in close contact with the common man.
Wiz Kid is a 25-year-old Nigerian singer who was formerly signed to EME music.

He is a multi-award winning artiste who is currently one of Nigeria’s finest exports of the art.
