JET SCANDAL: Women Against Victimization Of Allison-Madueke

Representatives of the Association of Concerned Nigerian Women yesterday protested against what they believe to be "undue persecution" of Petroleum Resources Minister, Deziani Alison-Madueke.

Led by the coordinator Martha Yaduma, the group members claimed that allegations against the minister were attempts by some people to undermine women’s aptitude in governance.

"We know our right and we will fight for it; we won’t allow men to suppress our propensity... We have done our investigation and we can say that some people were just out to victimise the minister without any just course; all allegations against her are not true," Yaduma said.

Women urged Nigerians to wait until the results of other investigations are released instead of judging the female official in advance "over alleged misappropriation of oil sector funds".

Referring to Alison-Madueke as a hardworking woman trying to improve situation in the ministry and oil sector, the organization members insisted that "no matter what happened, the truth will always prevail".
