Zamfara State Government Gives Victims Of Attack N12 Million
The families of 23 people that were killed on April 3 attack in Garin Maitsaba and Birnin Tsaba villages of Zamfara State, have been compensated with the sum of N12 million by the state government.
Musa Kwatarkwashi, special Adviser to Governor Abdul'Aziz Yari, on Emergency Management made this known to journalist on Thursday.
He recalled that many animals were killed, while houses, shops and granaries were also burnt down in the attack by gunmen.
The special adviser while handing over the money to the beneficiaries at Maitsaba village in Zurmi Local Government Area of the state said each of the affected families of the deceased would receive N300, 000 and six bags of assorted food stuff, while those whose granaries were burnt would each get N100, 000, and shop owners, N50, 000.
Kwatarkwashi further revealed that the government would pay N100, 000 for each cow killed, N25, 000 for goat, sheep or ram killed, N30, 000 for every room burnt during the attack.
Responding, Atiku Maradun, Executive Secretary, State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), urged the villagers to remain calm and accept the incident as an act of God.
He promised the people that the government would continue to provide prompt emergency services whenever required.
Abdullahi Bore, the Chairman of the local council thanked the state government for the gesture and urged the people to continue to pray for peace in the council, state and the country as well.
